The skeletal system is made up of all the bones in your body.  The bones are there to help you move, keep you upright and protect your organs.

The cranium is your skull. The cranium protects your brain. Attached to the cranium is the spine and the ribcage they are called Axial bones. Your arms and legs called appendicular bones. Axial bones help keep you up right.

The ribcage protects your lungs and your heart, the ribcage is made up of twelve pairs of bones. There are six floating ones. The bones that aren’t floating are attached to the sternum at the front and the vertebrae at the back. The floating ribs are only attached to the vertebrae.

Yours arms and legs help you move. Your first bone in your arm at the top, is called your humorous. The next two are called radius and Ulna. The first bone in your leg is called femur, it is the longest bone in your body. The next two bones in your leg are called fibula and tibia.

The pelvis which is your hip bone.  The pelvis is connected to the end of the spine.   It is also connected to both femurs by a ball and socket joint.   Your pelvis helps keep you upright.

The joints that connect your arm to clavicle, is called ball and socket joint. The joint at your elbow is a hinge joint. The same joint is at your Knee. The joint connecting your femur to your pelvis is a ball and socket joint. There is a joint at your wrist this called a hinge joint. The same Joint is at your ankle.

It is important to keep all the bones in your body healthy. You can do this by eating food with vitamin D, exercising and having regular check ups.
