The importance of bees...
Councillor Michael O' Meara, who is also an avid bee-keeper, visited us in school recently. He brought in a hive, a piece of honeycomb and some of his own honey for the children to taste. The children all learned a great deal about bees and their work and the great health benefits of eating local honey. We have adopted one of Michael's hives which we will decorate and return to his apiary so we can keep up to date with the work of the bees!!

Grandparents Day 2016
It was to a packed house that the children of Redwood N.S. performed their Christmas variety concert show early December.
The show began with a dazzling display of Irish dancing choreographed by dance teacher Stephanie Power of Portumna. The children performed slip jigs, light jigs, heavy jigs, reels but it had to be the boys brush dance that went into Gangnam Style that stole the show! The junior children performed the finale of the dance routines with a gorgeous dance to ‘Santa Claus is coming to town!’
The senior children then performed some beautiful instrumental music on the piano and tin whistles including Mary’s Boy Child, Silent Night, Away in a Manger and the First Noel.
Finally it was time for the main part of the show ‘The Grinch Who Stole Christmas’ which was produced by drama teacher Jared Madden of Banagher. The show was a huge hit with the audience with some very funny scenes. The classroom scene was hilarious with some very witty lines and characters such as snotser Flannery and Bugsy who gave the poor teacher a very hard time!!
Redwood N.S. would like to thank all those who attended the show and everyone who supported the Parents Association raffle afterwards.
