Pigs are originally from continents like Europe and Asia. A pig’s natural habitat is in a swampy forest with lots of oak trees.

Pigs are omnivores meaning they eat plants and meat. A pig’s snout is very important as they use them to find food under and above ground since they haven’t got very good eyesight.

Pigs are very clever animals and have a higher intelligence than dogs, and the same pain receptors as dogs. pigs can recognise friends and family and can even hold grudges on people they don’t like. When a pig has her piglet they are very close and can recognise each other even if they haven’t seen each other for years. New born pigs learn to run to their mother’s voices and recognise their own names by the time there two weeks old. Some pigs have even been known to sing to their young.
Most people think pigs are boring and slow, but they can actually run up to 11 miles per hour or a seven-minute mile.

Fun fact: Some people have pigs as pets.
