The first horses originated in North America and then spread to Asia and Europe. The Irish name for a horse is Capall and its Latin name Equus caballus.

Domesticated or tamed horses can live in almost any habitat, but wild horses prefer plains, prairies and steppes for many reasons. An average horses mass is 380-1000kg. Their lifespan is 25-30years old.Ther are over 350 breeds of horses.

Horses are herbivorous. Most of their diet includes grass and hay but they also eat meal. Sometimes for a treat they eat apples and fruit.

A female horse normally gives birth around Spring and early Summer. They have one foal but sometimes two.

A horses young is called a foal. They get teeth around 2 weeks old. If a foal is 12 months or under they're called a yearling. But if they're older than a year they're called a foal

A horse is a pack animal. This means they don’t like being alone. A horses speed is from 40 to 48km

Did you know: A horse can sleep both lying down and standing up!!!!!!!!
