I believe that smaller schools are better to go to.
We participate in lots of sports and competitive sports. We do hurling, football, soccer, athletics, swimming, tennis, basketball, gymnastics, dancing, yoga, zumba, rugby and cycling. We do hurling, football and soccer in school with the coach. we go to Borrisokane and Thurles for athletic. We do swimming in Birr leisure centre. we do tennis lessons with our approved Tennis Ireland Coach Miss Darcy. We do basketball with our coach as well. We do gymnastics in our local GAA hall with the teachers and we walk back to school from the GAA hall. we do dancing with Stephaine Power, yoga on the pitch and zumba with Maggie Duff in the GAA hall. We do rugby with one of the parents. We do cycling as well. We do lots of sports in Redwood National School.
We have four green flags this year we are applying for our fifth one on biodiversity. We have a travel flag as well. Last year we got a playhouse and a see-saw. We have our own veg+fruit garden in school, we grow lots of veg+fruit. This year we are participating in the food dudes challenge. The junior room do it for sixteen days and the senior room do if for eight days. We have lots of space to play we can play on the pitch, court and the playground area.
I think in a small school you get more attention from the teachers and help from your friends, because in a bigger school you would end up causing a racket in the class room but in Redwood N.S. that wouldn't happen because we are a small school. We have a low pupil ratio. In the junior room it's 16:1 and in the senior room it is 9:1. We get more access to the Ipads and the laptops because of our low pupil ratio. we get more resources games, literacy boxes, comprehension boxes, maths comprehension and other games.
Redwood N.S. starts at 8:50am and finishes at 1:30pm (all infant classes) and 2:30pm (all other classes). In September we started a thing called the homework club it starts immediately after school and runs until five o'clock daily. It cost £3 per hour per child. The homework club is great for people who are working and are not able to collect their children after school.
In my own opinion I think that Redwood National School is the best school to go to in all of Tipperary.
