The entire country will be under a status red weather warning on Friday, with the arrival of storm Eowyn (Pronounced Ay-oh-win) expected to cause significant disruption and “danger to life”, while schools and childcare settings are to close.
The storm has the potential to be among the most severe “Ireland has ever seen” according to the National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG).
Keith Leonard said it will result in very difficult conditions for everybody and cause serious disruption to transport and significant power outages.
Schools will be closed and he said the “ideal” would be for people to work from home.
