Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Excitement is building in the Junior room this December with some beautiful artwork being created by the children.
Autumn Activities in Redwood
In September the children gathered signs of Autumn from all around their school and homes to create a very colourful Autumn Table. Later in the month they made some delicious apple stew.
Super Valu Lets GROW
The children in the Junior Room took advantage of the beautiful April sunshine and got lots of seeds sown, thanks to the Super Valu Lets GROW initiative.
Fine Motor Activities
The children in the Junior Room are given every opportunity to develop their fine motor skills. This year we have been busy with playdoh, cutting, Geoclicks, threading, peg boards, stickers and much more. There are many benefits to engaging in fine motor activities. These include the development of talking, writing and drawing skills, improvement of physical awareness and independence, creativity & self esteem are boosted.
Aistear in Action
We had a busy first term in the Junior Room, focusing on one theme per month; Myself and my Family, The Witches Restaurant, The Opticians and The Toy Workshop.
Learning through play helps the children to build and extend their knowledge in a way that makes sense to them. Our stations include Lego, Construction, Role Play, Free Writing, Art & Small World.

Lighting up Rudolph
Rudolph's nose had stopped shining...no problem to our engineers who designed an electrical circuit to get him up and running again
Wildflower Girl
The older classes are reading the novel 'Wildflower Girl' and as the book is based in the USA we learned all about the US in Geography and History and created beautiful artwork city skylines and Native American headdresses. We learned about electrical circuits in Science after discussing the bright lights of Times Square, New York. The only way we could find out more was if we went there on a visit.

Colette presented her work on foxes and Emily presented on hares.
[The Prezi account is in Ms Hogan's name!]
